The 3M 577F flap disc is ideal for heavy-duty sanding jobs where the final surface finish is important. The disc's lamellae wear down gradually, exposing new abrasive material for fast and consistent machining quality, and the material covering the lamellae ensures a uniform finish. A cooling additive prevents the heating of heat-sensitive metal alloys, i.e. stainless steel, nickel alloys and titanium. The largest size discs have the same diameter as the standard size discs, but feature wider flaps that accommodate 25% more abrasive material compared to standard discs for more aggressive abrasion and longer life. Lamellar discs are three-dimensional abrasive discs equipped with overlapping layers of abrasive leaves reinforced with polyester fibers that spread radially from the center of the disc. Flap discs combine the properties of electro-corundum sanding discs and surface finishing by abrasive cloth, so they replace two tools at the same time - a sanding disc and abrasive cloth discs. This solution provides cost and time savings in many applications. The flexibility of the lamellar discs provides a larger contact area with rounded surfaces and edges, reducing surface gouging and increasing user comfort. The disks are ideal for a wide range of applications: weld grinding, deburring, rust removal, edge grinding, finishing weld surfaces, beveling edges. The lamella discs are designed for use on angle grinders.
